When you were locked out of Facebook asked on September 28

On Friday September 28, 2018 most Facebook users were logged out. They logged back in and started posting and asking why they were logged out of their accounts.

If you got onto Facebook and you were logged out of your account, then you are one of millions around the world who were prompted to re-login into their Facebook accounts. Your account has been hacked! Says Facebook.

The company announced that almost 50 million of its users were left  exposed by a security flaw which is due to a feature known as “View As”. The company says the attacker took advantage of the susceptibility of the feature and attacked nearly 50 million of its users.

Facebook says it has informed the police after the breach was discovered on Tuesday and it has taken steps to address the issue. It indicated that it is also investigating further to determine if more than the initial 50 million users were the only ones affected.

Head of Security at Facebook, Guy Rosen, says, Facebook is yet to determine whether the affected accounts were misused or any information accessed  since investigations just started . He further stated that, the company does not know who is behind the attacks and the origin of the attackers.

Guy also said people’s privacy and security were incredibly import and that the company apologized for what happened.

The hackers according to available information also hacked into the account of Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

Facebook has come under scrutiny in recent times over how it handles the private information of its users.
